Abstract:Abstract Objective: To find out the spatial distribution features of mental health service facilities and beds in Shanghai in order to provide basis for making regional mental health planning from 2016 to 2020. Methods:Descriptive analyses were conducted on the quantities, sponsors, distributions and bed density, et al. Results: At the end of 2015, there were 64 mental health services facilities and 14267 psychiatric beds in Shanghai, the mean number of psychiatric beds per 10,000 population was 5.91. Most(71.88%) of the mental health facilities were psychiatric hospital and general hospital. Psychiatric beds were mainly ( 86. 4%) located in psychiatric hospitals and gathered in Jingan、Xuhui、Huangpu and Hongkou District. Conclusion:The number of psychiatric bed per 10,000 population in Shanghai is well below the mean for countries of a similar economic level. The structure and spatial distribution is inappropriate to the region’’s present and future needs and the development of non-state mental hospitals should be promoted.
