Abstract:With the acceleration of the aging of population, the demand of the elderly (≥65) population for health services will continue to grow. Due to the physical conditions of the elderly, they have a higher risk of suffering chronic diseases. Compared with the curative care expenditure other groups of the population, their curative care expenditure has been increasing significantly. In order to understand the direct economic burden of the elderly in Jilin Province, the System of Health Accounts 2011 (SHA2011) is used to analyze the curative care expenditure of the elderly from the perspectives of per capita treatment cost, service composition and the curative care expenditure of diseases. Due to the lack of adequate elderly health insurance, the proportion of out-of-the pocket (OOP) has still reached 41.83%. Jilin Province is located in the northeast of China, the general condition is similar to that of the middle region in China. Therefore, the research of the curative care expenditure for the elderly can provide more supporting data for making health policies
